24th WPC World Petroleum Congress Marks One Year to Go until Calgary

Calgary — Today, the 24th World Petroleum Congress (24th WPC) Organising Committee for Canada (OCAN), is recognizing the “One-Year-To-Go” milestone, as momentum grows to he 24th WPC in Calgary, Canada. The Congress, taking place from 17-21 September 2023, will bring together industry and government leaders, academia, NGOs and thought leaders from the financial, technological, innovation and stakeholder engagement sectors to engage in a robust discussion of the Congress’s theme Energy Transition: The Path to Net Zero.

“The 24th WPC in Calgary represents an important platform in charting the paths that the traditional energy
sector can follow as we move towards a more carbon neutral industry,” says Denis Painchaud, President,
and CEO of OCAN. “The global energy industry looks forward to welcoming the world to Calgary and engaging in a vital discussion on how we can play a leading role in helping deliver the world’s energy needs
and achieving path(s) to net zero.”

The 24th WPC is pleased to announce that following a successful global call for papers, over 1,200 high
quality abstracts from more than 50 countries have been received with strong interest across all Technical
Forums. The Forum Chairs are now evaluating abstract submissions to select the top submissions that will
be presented as papers and posters at the Congress. The Technical Forum, which covers 17 transition focused topics, includes innovations in upstream, midstream, downstream, petrochemicals, natural gas, clean technology, and the future of the energy landscape.
