The annual Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas Expo was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the Bennett Event Center on October 12, 2023. Now in its 26th year, the Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas Expo is the largest and longest-running industry event in Oklahoma. Hosted by volunteers, this is the premier networking event of the year. The Expo brings together tried-and-true companies and the latest innovations in oil field technology. Exhibitors include 250 companies from small local businesses to large international service companies.

It is an honor for me to have attended many of the expos throughout the years beginning with the first expo held in Norman, Oklahoma, at the Cleveland County fairgrounds, held on a dirt floor.

Each year it continues to grow in numbers, events and programs. The Expo is presented by Sustaining Oklahoma’s Energy Resources (SOER) and Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas. There were several highlights including a presentation by the legendary oil man, Harold Hamm, founder and former CEO of Continental Resources, a country band performance, BBQ company competition, drawings and raffles. A golf tournament was held prior to the event.

There were about 2,700 attendees at last year’s 25th anniversary Expo. There appeared to be even more in attendance this year. There was much enthusiasm about the energy industry.

Harold Hamm was the featured speaker. David LeNorman, Expo Chairman, served as moderator. Hamm spoke about his recently released memoir, Game Changer. In addition, he talked about Oklahoma’s Oil & Gas history – past, present and future. Other issues that were discussed were geopolitical concerns, political landscapes, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the oil and gas industry.

Hamm was asked about the future of Continental Resources and what is next since his company had gone from being a public company to a private company. He was optimistic in his response, saying Continental Resources is a “geological shop with excellent engineers.”

Next year’s Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas Expo will be held in Oklahoma City at the Bennett Event Center on October 10, 2024. I highly recommend that you save the date!

Oil and gas operations are commonly found in remote locations far from company headquarters. Now, it's possible to monitor pump operations, collate and analyze seismic data, and track employees around the world from almost anywhere. Whether employees are in the office or in the field, the internet and related applications enable a greater multidirectional flow of information – and control – than ever before.
